The Best Cheap Christmas Gifts for Cats
Last week we gave you some good ideas for budget Christmas gifts for dogs. Of course, we haven’t forgotten our feline friends, and today we bring you some fun, creative ideas for cheap Christmas gifts for cats. Your feline friends are sure to dig something from this holiday gift list, whether you make or buy it.
Homemade Cat Treats
Last week’s post included a recipe for homemade dog treats. Of course, you can bake up some snacks for your cat, as well. Use a cat treat recipe, though! Their nutritional needs and tolerances are unique. Here’s a link to several cat treat recipes. These four recipes are made with tuna, liver, chicken or cheese. Your cat will definitely love at least one of them, and you can put them together with ingredients you probably have lying around the house.
Homemade Toys
Cheap Christmas gifts for cats? Try free gifts! We loved this blog post with instructions for making a whole list of cat toys. Some of the ideas include putting a small bell into a walnut or an old sock, or turning an old toilet paper roll into a treat puzzle. If you’re on the crafty side, you might even try Martha Stewart’s instructions for making toy mice.
Budget Cat Toys
You can put together a homemade/DIY version of almost any cat toy out there, but sometimes it’s simpler to just spend a few dollars. In that case, try getting your kitty one of these cat teaser wands (under $4 on Amazon), or maybe a treat ball for about $9. Get the idea? You can do your own online searches, or check your local pet supply stores. Bargain cat toys are not hard to find.
Holiday Kitty Collars
Does your cat appreciate the chance to get dressed up and look snazzy? A quick online search will reveal that you can find a Christmas/holiday themed cat collar for $10 or less, easily. Here’s just one of many that we found on Amazon. (So cute, and pretty darn affordable, too!)
Catnip Toys
If you already have some catnip sitting around, then this idea will be super affordable (or free). But it doesn’t cost much at all to head to a local pet supply store and pick up a little catnip, either. Once you have a little catnip on hand, it’s pretty easy to make a toy using some fleece, polyester fiber, and embroidery floss. Here’s a link to some other catnip toy how-to’s, including a catnip sock toy and crocheted catnip toys.
DIY Cat Perch
Does your kitty like to survey the world from a grand height? Consider giving her her very own cat perch at home! You can purchase expensive perches, but here’s some information on how to make your own perch. You just need some scrap wood, basic tools, and a towel or carpet remnants. Your cat will spend hours up there, enjoying the view, and the gift will be well worth the time you took crafting it.
I hope some of these bargain ideas for cat Christmas gifts have sparked your imagination, so you can give your fur babies a special holiday indeed.
